金正隆四年,王世轩所在的家乡关中牛头村严重缺水,王世轩不忍看到村民受此灾难,独自一人前往终南山寻找水源。在甘河镇,寻水无果的王世轩走投无路,想要拔剑自刎,却被贵人所救,传其乾阴功、坤阳剑,并待王世轩刻苦练成后,将水源所在如实告知。寻水路上,王世轩救出叶三娘等人,一行人前往桑麻村疗伤。村民中有人贪图富贵,暗中向贪官走狗唐天鹰告密。王世轩与叶三娘被唐天鹰逼到悬崖处,不愿受辱,跳崖自尽。谁成想两人大难不死,在谷底得一时安全,但都身负重伤。王世轩为叶三娘输送真气,并将太极拳静养之法传授给叶三娘,二人在地宫打坐修炼。修行后,决心去讨伐唐天鹰,为侠肝义胆的志士们算账,最终合力将唐天鹰杀死,为民除害。。The subtitle of Jean-Marie Straub and Danièle Huillet’s first feature, from 1965, “Only Violence Helps Where Violence Reigns,” suggests the fierce political program evoked by their rigorous aesthetic. The pretext of the film, set in Cologne, is Heinrich Böll’s novel “Billiards at Half Past Nine,” which they strip down to a handful of stark events and film with a confrontational angularity akin to Bartók’s music that adorns the soundtrack. The subtlest of cues accompany the story’s complex flashbacks. The middle-aged Robert Fähmel tells a young hotel bellhop of persecutions under the Third Reich| his elderly father, Heinrich, an architect famed for a local abbey, recalls the militarism of the First World War, when his wife, Johanna, incurred trouble for insulting the Kaiser. A third-generation Fähmel is considering architecture, just as the exiled brother of Robert’s late wife, returns, only to be met by their former torturer, now a West German official taking part in a celebratory parade of war veterans. Straub and Huillet make the layers of history live in the present tense, which they judge severely.
