该片所有参演小演员皆为大凉山的留守儿童，抑或失去父母的孤儿。
影片以拉海和阿依为主人公。两个人生活在悬崖村，一起在山下的小学读书。
但从小爱动的拉海最终选择了走出大山，去城里学武，最终成为武术冠军。而阿依后来辍学，长大后也走出了大山，到城里打工，由于对音乐的不断追求与沉淀，让阿依在一档综艺节目上一举成名。
两个人以不同的方式，分别爬上了人生的天梯。而青梅竹马的两个人，再次相见时，阿依已有所属。也许，有惋惜的结局，才完美。
