The film tells the story of three people for a year: a son (Magimel) diagnosed with cancer, a mother (Deneuve) suffering from helplessness and a doctor (Cécile de France) to do her job: One year and four seasons for these three characters to deal with the disease, to tame it, and to understand what it means to die while alive.。“一桩没有尸体的凶案，一场没有终点的逃亡……”
一年前，北方小城“晨苍”发生了一起仇杀案，凶手秦虹潜逃。
一年后，警方在南方“发现”秦虹时，秦虹已被男友抛尸大海，尸骨无存。
这是一起人证、物证俱全，凶手甚至已经交代犯罪事实的案件，可消失无踪的尸体让主管刑警刘望惴惴不安。
