The film explores Satanists as they exist today, portraying their everyday lives and the magical rituals they engage in.。台儿庄大战后，国民党军队撤出山东， 八路军化整为零。人称摘星手的左北泉临危受命组建一支代号叫麻雀的短枪班，和敌人展开麻雀战，打击当地日伪力量。他们攻打葛庄、夜袭教堂、转运武器、保护抗日大会，使敌人闻风丧胆。日军动用多方力量，仍然无法遏制麻雀队的行踪。麻雀队队员在左北泉的带领下与敌人进行浴血奋战,直至日本投降。。
